Beware

Just a note to our customers running newer vehicles with common rail fuel injection systems. These systems are now common equipment on at least 90% of vehicles registered in the last 2-3 years and that applies to all makes, not just MAN-ERF.

Please be extremely vigilant about the cleanliness of any containers or tanks used to store fuel for these vehicles. The systems operate at extremely high pressure and very close tolerances are used in the pumps and injectors. Older vehicles will lose power and eventually stop if the fuel filters become blocked or contaminated. Any dirt, and particularly water, that gets into a common rail system can, and will, cause very costly damage. The cost of replacing a damaged high pressure pump and six injectors is typically around £6,000 to £7,000.

PLEASE BE WARNED

Note

Should you be unlucky enough to suffer from the above please do not be tempted to loosen pipes or unions to try to cure the problem. Common Rail Systems work at extremely high pressures and a jet of fuel from a high pressure pipe will penetrate your skin and cause blood poisoning (or worse) .
